Installation Log Files

When installing ePortfolio, two log files are created: the Windows Installer log file and the Config log file.

Windows Installer Log File

The Windows Installer log file is a verbose log of all the actions executed by Windows Installer.  Every attempt to install/upgrade ePortfolio will generate a new log with a name such as ePortfolio00000.log.  On Windows XP machines, the Windows Installer log file is located in C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Local Settings\Temp.  On Windows Server machines, the Windows Installer log file is located in C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Local Settings\Temp\1.

Config Log File

The Config log file is a verbose log of all the configuration items executed by an install/upgrade.  For instance, this is the log file which logs the installation of the database.  The Config log file is named Config.log.  This log file is created once and appended to on each install/upgrade.  The Config log will be located in C:\WINDOWS\system32.
